This week on Set Lusting Bruce, Jesse is visited by a friend from the past.  Niki aka Sarah Johns went to High School with Jesse and they spend some time talking about AM and Top 40 radio back in the day.  Sarah is a radio host on Rock 101! KKGB-FM 101.3FM .  She talks about her musical journey and her favorite songs and some special memories meeting some of our classic rock heroes.   Also the 100th episode of Set Lusting Bruce is coming up and we would love for you to send in any feedback on favorite shows, stories, etc to setlustingbruce@gmail.com or call us at 214-736-3121

As Jesse is going through his chemo treatments, he’s finding more time to record Set Lusting Bruce episodes.  In this week’s episode he’s joined by Jeff Calaway who also lives in the DFW area.  They talk about growing up in a small town, listening to the local sports station, how Bruce and Merle Haggard’s music have many similarities and in a post credits discussion father and son bonding activities.   By the way, we are slowly reaching the 100 episode.  It’s not too early to send in your comments about the show to SetLustingBruce@gmail.com or leave a voice mail about the 100th show or really any of our episodes at 214-736-3121

With all that is going on, I thought we could use a good laugh.  Ross Murray wrote a great column giving Mary’s version of the song Thunder Road.  It made me laugh and I couldn’t resist mashing the song and his column together.  I asked Karen who was my cohost on Storming the Castle to read Mary’s part.  I hope I did the column and the song justice.  I know that Karen is great as Mary.   Hope you enjoy this and it helps to make you smile.

One of Bruce’s passions is raising money for food banks across the country.   He’s also a big supporter of WhyHunger the charity 4 founded in 1975 by the late musician Harry Chapin and Radio DJ Bill Ayres on the fundamental belief that access to nutritious food is a human right and hunger is a solvable problem in a world of abundance

A group of fans have decided to collect recipes submitted by Springsteen fans across the world and publish a cookbook that will be sold to raise money for Whyhunger.  For more details go to their Facebook page.

Jesse is joined by Candy Dawson to talk about the project.   Please send in your favorite recipe and then buy the book once it’s published.

After an unplanned hospital stay, Jesse is back talking Bruce Springsteen & all that implies.  In this week's episode he is joined by Peter Chianca from Blogness on the Edge of Town discussing the blog's recent reader poll about what are the most Springsteen type songs of Bruce's songs.   It is always great to visit with Peter and they discuss their own choices and the reader's choices.
